PLEIN AIR WITHOUT FEAR WATERCOLOR & GOUACHE
Experience the joy of plein air painting. Working directly from the landscape deepens your connection to nature and provides you with the information to later do larger studio pieces in any medium. This system is simple and easy and can be used anywhere without creating a mess or fuss.
You will learn to put together an inexpensive kit that will last for years. I will demonstrate from the kit that I use both near my home in Colorado and on all my travels. This kit can fit in a baggie!
I provide all the art supplies that you will need for the day. You need to dress for the weather and bring a comfortable chair, hat, and lunch (camera optional). We will meet in the studio. After a demonstration / lecture we will select a location based on the particulars of the day. In case of rain, we will work in the studio from still life material … the process is the same. You will leave knowing what you need to continue to paint plein air on your own.
YES, YOU CAN! ACRYLIC PAINTING FOR THE TOTAL NOVICE I promise not to scare you as I guide you through the process of creating an acrylic painting. I will explain how to mix colors and lead you through the entire process. I provide all materials. All you need to do is show up. We will have a good time, and you will leave with a finished landscape painting! Bring your own references if there is something that you want to paint; otherwise, I will provide a choice.
GO WITH YOUR FLOW ACRYLIC PAINTING Acrylics can be used to achieve a rich, multi-layered, and fresh expression. This workshop includes individual and group critiques and lots of hard core painting tips (fundamentals). Emphasis will be on learning to relax and trust yourself as you work.
I begin with a demonstration. As I paint, I explain what I am doing and why I am doing it. You will get an overview of my whole process. All questions are answered.
You will learn about textures, glazing, scumbling, knife-work, multi-layering, etc.
We loosen up with painting exercises, and then you will work on your own pieces. Come with ideas / references or I will provide them.
